grass

Spring is in the air. Air is fresh and abundant. It's always there no matter how many breaths I take. I hold my breath to see how long I can be without it. It doesn't last long...my lungs are (real) happy when I inhale.

Sun seems excited to shower me with its soothing warmth and revitalizing energy. It brings me great joy to stand there and close my eyes. As I feel the sun on my skin, I feel thankful for what it gives me and for everything else that it offers to the entire planet.

Trees are refreshingly green. As I approach one of those green giants, I watch and smell the colorful flowers on the waking branches, among the green graceful leaves. I stand there for a few minutes, immersing myself in this tranquil beauty, feeling thankful for what it offers to me and other living creatures. One more deep breath...

I decide to take a seat on the lush green grass. Little bugs are moving around the ground, doing what they do, undisturbed by my presence. They don't "bug" me this time. I don't seem to bother them either. My eyes are closed. As I touch the ground beneath me, my fingers feel the gentleness and softness of various shapes of grass and flowers. The ground is soothingly cool and a little moist.

I feel calm and grounded, connected to the rhythm of the beauty around me. Aware of it all. In a park - in the middle of a hurried city. Thankful for being here. It's here for me to see it, feel it, smell it, hear it, taste it. Connect with it. Enjoy it with passion.

Seeing it differently - here and now

Posted on Feb 27th, 2009 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense
Every day we have numerous goals, tasks, assignments, ideas and responsibilities on our plate. In addition to that, we have our daily basic needs to take care of: brushing our teeth, preparing food and eating, showering, drinking liquids, going to bathroom, dressing and undressing, and so on. Some things we can choose not to do (like showering and brushing teeth) – at a very good risk of being avoided by people around us - while others are a must.

As creatures of habit, we complete most of the daily-things-to-do without much effort, simply because we are used to doing them every day. Other things – like dealing with new ideas, new responsibilities and new assignments – can be either a joy or pain to do. Why? It all depends on our attitude. If we feel that working on something will bring us joy and satisfaction, then we are excited even thinking about it. Right. On the other hand, if we see a certain task as unnecessary or uncomfortable, then it is likely that we will postpone and avoid working on it. Right again! So what can we do about it?

If we HAVE to accomplish all the things-to-do (both exciting and uncomfortable ones) without pulling our hair out, we can change our attitude towards the “problem” at hand. Here’s a “trick”: think of every (good, bad and the ugly) task as a fun (even adventurous!) activity - one that you are looking forward to. No matter how unimportant, boring or uncomfortable it may seem. Take it as a challenge. Make a decision that you will work on every such task as if it was the most important thing to do that day. Every single one. The trick is not to fool yourself, but to make a decision that working on this task has a purpose and that completing it will bring a sense of accomplishment.

While working on the task at hand, being completely present and giving your best is the way to do it. By focusing our efforts in such a creative way, we can find some satisfaction in everything we do (from completing a project at work to confronting a coworker, from doing laundry to making dinner). If we take the focus off the perceived negative labels (boring, uncomfortable) for the things we need to do and choose to recognize a value in completing them to the best of our ability – here and now, we will be able to face anything that we put on our daily plate. And brush our teeth afterwards.

What is most important today?

Posted on Feb 11th, 2009 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense

Make a list of things that bring value into your life.

(Some of mine are laughing, meditation, stretching, exercising, learning, spending time with loved ones, being present in all I do, creating value in lives of others.)

Realize that doing those things brings value to you and that you deserve it. Only you can make time for yourself. Only you can allow this value into your life. Dedicate time to do the things on your list every day. No matter what. And have fun.

Do we deserve it?

Posted on Oct 23rd, 2008 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense

Being happy. Living our dreams. Feeling loved. Experiencing joy. Do we deserve it?

We all want to be happy. That usually means doing what we want, when we want to do it, with the person or people we want to do it with. When we feel free to make choices and decisions about our life path, while following our passion, we are living life to the fullest - enjoying each moment while discovering our full potential. Until a seed of self-doubt sneaks upon us: Do I deserve it?

Sometimes when we receive the wonderful things we really wanted and worked for, among the initial overwhelming joy and excitement, a sudden self-defeating cloud begins to loom above our heads: Am I worthy of receiving this? Although we become worthy of receiving all we desire by simply creating our wants, our conditioned views on what we are worth of receiving in life greatly limit our ability to fully accept and enjoy what brings us happiness. Fulfilling business, a loving relationship, our dream home...yes, we want them, but are we willing to let go of our inherited or skewed views on deserving them?

Our past beliefs, experiences and insecurities
may be telling us that what we want we are not meant to have, so we find a way to sabotage ourselves - unconsciously or consciously / by our thoughts or actions. The business deal falls through, we complicate a relationship with a loving partner, our dream home sells to someone else. All because we could not accept or believe that we were deserving of receiving it.

Loving ourselves.
It's a cornerstone of acceptance. It opens us to being authentic and feeling deserving of all the joy we envision. By not loving ourselves completely, we dim the lights of our shining soul, allowing our limited ego-mind to analyze, scrutinize, and dissect true desires of our heart.

One way to overcome this is to allow such undeserving thoughts to come up, recognize them as self-defeating beliefs, feel them & let them pass, and fully embrace whatever we are receiving - simply because receiving what we wanted makes us feel good. No other reason is needed. Allowing ourselves to receive and appreciate what we have asked to come into our life is one of the greatest acts of self-love we could experience. Love yourself. And your dreams and desires. It is a most satisfying way to acknowledge our power of creation.

So celebrate that new business deal, embrace your loved one, jump for joy in your dream home! Because you do deserve it. Don't question why. Just enjoy it.

Live passion-full!

Using imagination & visualization to help fuel passion and reach dreams & goals

As adults, we rarely tap into the power of our imagination and visualization. But since we do have a great ability to focus and concentrate, we could use that potential to use visualization as a powerful tool to help us build & reach our goals (and create new dreams). Allow yourself to dream more. Then follow it with passionate action.

SHINE FROM WITHIN

Posted on Sep 2nd, 2008 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense

Shine from within. That is something that we do once we discover our passion, our reason for being. Once we learn to calm our mind (and ego) and start listening to our heart. When we decide to do what brings us joy.

So why do most of us find it hard to discover our passion?
Starting in childhood, our habits and belief systems were molded mainly by our parents, relatives, society and through our interaction with the world. Certain expectations were developed, which later on may have had an impact on our choice of a way of life or a certain career. And we thought that those choices were ours. We live our lives on autopilot. Life goes on. Years pass by.

And then one day
we start feeling trapped, anxious, bored, mad at the world. The question comes: Why this pain...and...what is the purpose of my life? We may find ourselves feeling "lost," in a job we dislike, in a life situation that does not feel good. We may think it's too late to change our lives. Or we decide to find some comfort in our current situation ("I have a good-paying job!" or "Other people live worse than me!" or many other silly statements). No matter how we try to rationalize this, the PAIN is there. We feel that life is passing us by and we haven't really LIVED. More questions come. THIS IS THE opportunity of a lifetime! You can use it to enhance your life and let it lead you towards unleashing of your potential to live life joyFULLY.

Here's how to start:

1. Make time to calm down, relax your body & mind, meditate, pray. Relax your mind.
2. Write down and review your strengths and accomplishments. Be grateful for them.
3. Realize that the situation you are in is JUST WHAT WAS NEEDED to bring you to this opportunity. Don't hate it. Instead, be thankful for it and for the "gifts" it brings.
4. Think of the things that bring you joy (your hobbies, interests). Whatever makes you happy when you do it. If you can't think of anything, go volunteer ANYWHERE (dog shelter, homeless shelter, hospital, go to VolunteerMatch.org). By being of service to others, you WILL GET what you need right now. Don't wait. DO IT NOW.
5. What can you see yourself doing that would bring you joy? What EXCITES you when you think about it? Is it another job, sport, lifestyle, activity, art? Picture yourself doing it (or go do it). How does it feel? If your heart sings, you are on a way to finding your passion. Visualize yourself doing it. Feel joy? Feel happy? Feel thrilled?? Great!
6. Set goals. What do you want to accomplish with your passion?
7. Don't hate where you are right now. On the contrary, give it all you've got! Be helpful, cooperate and be grateful. Things will change. You will create a new opportunity soon.
8. Believe in yourself. Read inspiring books. Do more of what you like. Develop your passion. Keep the enthusiasm high. Be flexible and stay open to new opportunities. Be aware of how you feel.

That's a great beginning. You may find that although your situation has not yet changed (same job, same situation, same problems), something HUGE is happening! You have cracked the shell, and the passion you are slowly beginning to discover and develop is slowly SHINING THROUGH. Honor it, think about it, care for it, be grateful for it. It is going to bring you the life you never thought was possible.

ANIMAL ANTHEM HAS BEEN UNLEASHED

Posted on Aug 28th, 2008 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense
I was inspired to create a song that spoke of my love and respect for the animals. So this month, it came out. WHEN I LOOK INTO THESE EYES is the song. The video came out to add the visual component (in a most delicious way!). I am excited to have been inspired to show animals as they are: beautiful and loving.

This song was inspired by animals and their beauty. It honors our compassion towards them. It is a promise to see their beauty and act towards them with love. It is a reminder of what we may be overlooking. The song is my version of a WORLDWIDE ANIMAL ANTHEM. We can inspire others to look at animals in a different way, to see their beauty and aliveness. If you like it, share it with loved ones, friends, and foes. If you know of an organization that helps animals, feel free to send them the video and spread the love.
Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0Ox1J72Wxc

If you can tell me how many animals are shown in the video and send me your email, I will email you the song. Or tell me the symbolism of reverse / forward movement...I am curious if people will catch it;)

Much love and (com)passion,
SixthSense
